Full Fathom Five - She Bangs The Drums (Orig. by Stone Roses)
Not sure I’m feeling the Stone Roses reunion next year will end off all that well given their past history. Sometimes history needs to be left untouched.
Lots of easy money sitting on the table ready to be grabbed by bands for putting on these nostalgic shows. Can’t blame them, considering that 225,000 tickets sold out in a matter of minutes. Refilling the retirement fund!
Putting the cynicism aside very briefly, their debut album goes down as a classic. It still sounds as fresh and exciting as the first time I ever heard it. They probably only had that one solid album in them because everything after that was pretty dodgy. I saw them live in Toronto, and for all the excitement surrounding the show, it was one of the worst I’ve seen. The venue sucked (Marine Terminal anyone?), the sound sucked and the band came on a stage late and felt like they really didn’t want to be there.
Time will only tell where this reunion goes… but I really wish they kept the book on Stone Roses closed.
